Madivado 899 (in North America), or Madivado Dabaloduo (PAL region), Madivado Shorijoshi' (Asia), or Madivado Britipop (Brazil), was a fifth-generation, 32-bit video game console that was sold by Madivado Systems. The Madivado had a total of 4 million units sold during its lifespan. IT had widespread controversy over most of its games.

Development and History

Madivado Systems had already developed the Madivado Systematic Operational Quarification Super Grame Player for the third-generation market, which failed drastically due to its Engrish. At the time, the Sega Genesis was all the rage and the Nintendo Entertainment System was having a bit of a problem. 1992 was a year that spawned a new idea for the company. They started developing on 'Project Two Madivado', which lasted for three years.

Madivado Systems had also developed a number of series, notably BAHUM, MSOQSGP and sjrgjsrgjgrp. They were all lousy, of course, however, they believed that the games' titles would lead to intrest in buyers. What a failure it was. Meanwhile, the Madivado 899's developers decided on choosing a 7x4x4cm console or a 3x5x3 console. They chose the latter, although it had limited memory space. Madivado started working on the console's interior and design-a green scheme fit just well, they claimed. WEIRD!

At last, the Madivado 899 came out in January 1995 to the North American market. Only 3 copies were sold within a month. They still believed there would be more sales, despite the humongous letdown. On the second month, they ran out of stock, and they had to manafacture 3 million more, a 1 million increase from the previous time. They also suggested manafacturing three billlion more consoles. Wow, it was getting good. They really thought they could win the customers' attention.

The Madivado 899 was released in Japan in March 1995. Sales skyrocketed, and more and more consoles were being shipped to Japan. They had, by then, sold 3.9 million consoles, which was a humongous super effort ever. They released it to the PAL region shortly after, first starting with the UK, then France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Eastern Bloc, Russia and Scandavania. In April, they released it to the Brazillian market.

In May, they decided to rename the product, Madivado 899, to Madivado Dabaloduo for the PAL region, thus, all consoles being shipped to UK, France, Germany, Russia, Italy, Australia and New Zealand had to be placed with a new label. This arose massive protests, however, it kept up with the name. Most of the executives were injured as they were beaten up by protestors. Ouch!

They decided to rename it 'Madivado Sorjioshi' in Asia, with a label being stuck onto the box. Brazillian consoles already contained the name 'Britipop' from the beginning. Everything went well, until the Atari Jaguar and 3DO came along, pushing the Madivado out of the market. With many more competitors on its way, the Madivado was being put in a spot. One console was bought each month, as many wanted others.

Madivado 899 eventually found itself in many console wars. It notably battled against less popular fifth-generation consoles, such as the Casio Loopy and the highly crticized CD-i. It had many campagins against popular PlayStation, but failed to achieve its target. The three billion consoles left in stock, that used up their capital ($9 billion), had to be sold for free. However, they had set their large warehouse in Congo on fire, which caused more two billion consoles to be destroyed. The remaining one billion was set ablaze by Madivado Systems employees, and all of them were fired eventually.

The Madivado 899, that had lasted from 1992 to 1996, was still remembered by the community as a console that sold quite well. The 4 million consoles sold in total was a great achievement for the company, and they went on to manafacture another fifth-generation home video game console, the Madivado 900, although it was mainly considered "in a generation gap between the fifth and sixth generation".
